Call for Entry: New Mexorado, Artists Living & Working in the Albuquerque-Denver Corridor
An exhibition at the Harwood Museum of Art
March 5 – June 19, 2011
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The I-25 corridor connecting Albuquerque and Denver defines an interstate area united by shared geographic, economic, ethnic and cultural influences. New Mexorado: Artists Living & Working in the Albuquerque-Denver Corridor will showcase contemporary works of art created by artists living and working in that region. The multi-media exhibition will celebrate technical excellence, personal vision, and the bonds connecting the community of artists living and working in this unique part of the world.
The Harwood Museum of Art encourages both emerging artists and artists with established reputations to participate in the exhibition. Work may include paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, video installation, sculpture, glass, multi-media, and virtual presentations.
Eligibility: Artists must currently reside within the boundaries of NEW MEXORADO. Submitted work must have been completed no earlier than June 2008. Members of the Harwood Museum of Art staff and Governing Board are not eligible to participate in the exhibition.

Lumpkin publishes widely on art and design, and a number of her essays have been collected in Deep Design: Nine Little Art Histories (Art Issues Press, 1999), in which she examines "how" objects make meaning rather than "why they exist: " 'How, " she writes, "is a question of design," which, in turn, can be interpreted as "the artificial configuration...of visible materials in the presence of a beholder at particular points in time and space..."
