Artist talk: Inspired By Place, Nell Shaw Cohen

Arthur Bell Auditorium

An artist talk with Brooklyn-based composer Nell Shaw Cohen, three-time recipient of the Artist Residency Grant from The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation. Cohen evokes landscapes, visual art, and the lives of mavericks in lyrical works for the stage, concert hall, and digital media. Cohen will discuss her creative process through projects developed at the Wurlitzer Foundation—including her chamber opera about Mabel Dodge Luhan's life in Taos, as well as her upcoming opera about women in rodeo commissioned by Houston Grand Opera. She will also screen multimedia video work inspired by landscape, nature, and place. Audience Q&A to follow.

Admission is $10 general, free to Museum members and Wurlitzer Residents
